State Minister Helal Uddin Launches Eid Relief, Fishermen Support and Road Development Projects in Hathazari

Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin spent a busy day participating in several public welfare and development activities in Hathazari of Chattogram on Friday. His engagements included relief distribution, providing alternative livelihood support to fishermen, and inaugurating multiple road development projects.

Speaking to US Bangla Tribune, the State Minister’s Public Relations Officer Md. Rezuwan Khan said that in the morning, the State Minister attended a program organized by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the Chikondondi Union Parishad premises in Hathazari. During the event, free VGF rice was distributed among low-income and underprivileged families ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the State Minister said the government aims to improve the living standards of disadvantaged people and build a prosperous Bangladesh through poverty alleviation initiatives.

He also emphasized that alongside various government social safety and development programs, people must also take initiatives to become self-reliant.

Later in the afternoon, goats were distributed among registered fishermen families living along the Halda River as part of an alternative livelihood support program. Officials concerned said the initiative was taken to create additional sources of income for families dependent on fishing.

On the same day, the State Minister inaugurated the “Smart Street Lighting Development” project under the LGCRRP project implemented with World Bank support in Hathazari Municipality. Under the initiative, modern street lights were installed on several important roads, including Banzoin–Upazila College Road, Bus Stand–Egaro Mile Road, and roads adjacent to Parbati Model Government High School.

He also inaugurated carpeting and road improvement works on the Kamalpara–Ramkuni Road and Shahjalal Para areas.

Senior officials of the upazila and municipal administration, local representatives, political leaders, and distinguished community members were present at the daylong programs.
