BREAKING: Mass Stabbing at New York’s Penn Station Leaves Multiple Injured; Suspect in Custody

NEW YORK, June 8, 2026 — At least five people were injured in a stabbing attack inside New York City’s Penn Station on Sunday evening, triggering panic among commuters at one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs. Authorities confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway.

According to the New York Fire Department (FDNY), emergency crews responded to reports of multiple stabbings around 7 p.m. inside the station. One victim suffered serious injuries, while others sustained moderate to minor wounds. All victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as frightened passengers ran for safety after the attacker allegedly began randomly stabbing people near the New Jersey Transit waiting area. Blood was seen on the station floor as first responders rushed to assist the wounded.

Amtrak police and other law enforcement agencies quickly apprehended the suspect. Officials have not yet released details about the motive behind the attack, and the suspect’s identity has not been formally announced by authorities.

The incident occurred just hours before heightened security measures were set to take effect around Penn Station and Madison Square Garden ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals and President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to the arena. Authorities have not indicated whether the stabbing will affect security plans for the event.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the violence and praised first responders for their swift actions. Officials urged commuters to remain alert and follow instructions from law enforcement as the investigation continues.

This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
