Florida issues arrest warrant for Raúl Castro in 1996 plane shootdown
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a state arrest warrant Monday charging the 95-year-old former Cuban leader with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the shootdown of two Brothers to the Rescue aircraft that killed four Cuban-American humanitarian workers 30 years ago. The state warrant complements federal charges announced in May and gives Florida legal grounds to prosecute Castro if he is arrested outside Cuba.
