US Bangla Tribune | COLTS NECK, NJ – The air in Monmouth County is thick with anticipation as the Bangladesh Association of New Jersey (BANJ) prepares to host its flagship New Year celebration, "Probashe Borshoboron 1433." Scheduled for this Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM, the halls of Colts Neck High School (59 Five Points Road, Colts Neck, NJ 07722) are set to transform into a vibrant slice of Bangladesh.

For decades, BANJ has served as the cultural cornerstone for the Bangladeshi diaspora in the Garden State. Founded with a mission to preserve and promote the rich heritage, language, and traditions of Bangladesh, BANJ has evolved into a premier non-profit organization. By organizing large-scale festivals like Pohela Boishakh, literary evenings, and youth workshops, the association acts as a vital bridge between the roots of the motherland and the lives of Bengali-Americans in New Jersey.

While the event features professional talent, the true heartbeat of this year’s celebration lies in the local community. For months, the youngest members of the diaspora have been dedicated to rigorous rehearsals. From mastering intricate folk dance steps to perfecting classical vocal harmonies, these children have been practicing tirelessly to ensure they "rock the stage."

"Seeing the dedication of our youth is a testament to our mission," said BANJ Assistant General Secretary Mr. M. Maruf Alam. "This event is a meaningful platform to bring our future generations together to experience and preserve the essence of Bangla language, tradition, and identity."

The celebration kicks off with a traditional Boishakhi Mela, offering a kaleidoscope of colors through stalls featuring traditional attire and jewelry. Food enthusiasts will find a sanctuary at the Pitha Utshob, a festival dedicated to the diverse, sweet, and savory rice cakes synonymous with Bengali hospitality.

The main attraction of the evening is the renowned performer Ronti Das, who will grace the stage with her captivating vocal range. The program will also feature a seamless blend of local community performers and traditional displays of Bengali food, crafts, and clothing.

Speaking to the US Bangla Tribune, BANJ President Mr. Faizur Rahman Shabu expressed his excitement for the upcoming festivities.

"A new year begins with colors, culture, and countless dreams," Mr. Shabu remarked. "I fondly recall the vibrant celebrations, music, and shared meals that make the Bengali New Year here in New Jersey so special. May this Noboborsho celebration fill every moment with joy and new beginnings."

Due to high demand and limited seating at the venue, organizers are urging community members to secure their tickets immediately.

Join BANJ for an unforgettable afternoon of unity and heritage as the community welcomes the year 1433!
