Authorities in Edmond, Oklahoma, are conducting an intensive search for suspects after a mass shooting at a lakeside gathering left 13 people injured on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2026.

The violence erupted around 9:00 PM at a campground near Arcadia Lake, a popular recreational spot approximately 13 miles north of Oklahoma City.

A large gathering of young people was reportedly attending an event marketed on social media as "Sunday Funday." The flyer for the event promised music, food, and "good vibes" at a pavilion near the lake.

Witnesses described a terrifying scene as gunfire broke out, sending attendees running for cover in the heavily wooded area surrounding the lake. One witness reported helping a friend who had been hit by what appeared to be a stray bullet.

A total of 13 victims were treated for injuries ranging in severity. 10 victims were transported by ambulance or private vehicles to Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, while three others were treated at Integris Health Edmond Hospital. As of Monday morning, officials stated the victims remain in "various conditions." No fatalities have been reported at this time. Police established a reunification center at a local Walmart to help families locate loved ones who fled the scene during the chaos.

The Edmond Police Department has confirmed that no arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions have been released yet.  Police spokesperson Emily Ward noted that the heavily wooded terrain at Spring Creek Park made the initial investigation difficult. Officers remained on-site through sunrise to comb the area for ballistic evidence. Investigators are currently "all over the metro" interviewing victims and witnesses to identify the shooter or shooters. While the suspects remain at large, police indicated on Monday that they do not believe there is an "ongoing threat" to the general public.

"This is obviously a very terrifying situation... we are working extremely hard to find the suspects."— Emily Ward, Edmond Police Department Spokesperson

According to the Gun Violence Archive, this incident marks the 131st mass shooting in the United States in 2026. This tragedy also occurred in a city with a somber history; Edmond was the site of the 1986 post office shooting, one of the deadliest workplace shootings in U.S. history.

As the investigation into the Arcadia Lake mass shooting continues, law enforcement has provided specific details regarding the suspects and the nature of the attack.

According to the Edmond Police Department and reports from CNN affiliate KOKH, investigators are searching for two male suspects.

Witnesses and police report that the two men were wearing ski masks at the time of the attack, making immediate identification difficult.  Both individuals were armed with firearms, though the specific makes and models of the weapons have not yet been released pending ballistic analysis of the scene.

The shooting is being described as a chaotic and sudden ambush on a crowd that was largely defenseless. The gunmen reportedly emerged and opened fire directly into the crowd of young adults gathered at the "Sunday Funday" event near the lake's pavilion around 9:00 PM.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire was indiscriminate, striking victims across a wide area of the campground.

While no suspects are currently in custody, police spokesperson Emily Ward stated that investigators are pursuing multiple leads.  Detectives are currently "canvassing the metro area," interviewing the 13 victims and scores of witnesses who were at the party. Authorities are also reviewing social media footage and "Sunday Funday" flyers to see if the suspects were seen on camera prior to putting on their masks. "The suspects were able to disappear into the woods quite quickly," a law enforcement source noted. "We are working to determine if they had a vehicle staged nearby or if they fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhoods."

Anyone with information or video footage of the event is urged to contact the Edmond Police Department at (405) 359-4338.
