Trump’s Message to Tarique Rahman: Bangladesh’s Future Is “Very Bright” — U.S. President Assures on Boeing, Expresses Interest in Meeting Soon

WASHINGTON/DHAKA — U.S. President Donald Trump has thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the country’s decision to purchase Boeing aircraft from the United States and expressed his expectation of meeting the Bangladeshi leader in the near future.

Trump conveyed the message in a letter sent to Tarique Rahman from the White House on August 31, 2026, according to Bangladesh government officials and multiple reports published Tuesday.

In the letter, Trump acknowledged receiving Tarique Rahman’s communication regarding Bangladesh’s decision to purchase Boeing aircraft and said he greatly appreciated the decision.

Trump assured the prime minister that “Boeing will not let you down” and thanked him for his personal attention to the matter.

The letter comes as Bangladesh seeks to strengthen its economic and strategic relationship with the United States, with aviation and trade emerging as important areas of bilateral cooperation.

“I look forward to meeting you soon”

Trump also expressed a desire to meet Tarique Rahman personally in the near future.

The U.S. president conveyed warm greetings and affection to the people of Bangladesh and asked the prime minister to pass those sentiments on to the Bangladeshi people.

The message also contained a strong expression of confidence in Bangladesh’s future under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.

Trump wrote that despite the difficulties Bangladesh and its people have experienced, he believes the country has a “very bright future” under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.

The presidential letter is being viewed as another notable development in Bangladesh-U.S. relations. Trump’s emphasis on Boeing purchases, his appreciation for the Bangladeshi government’s decision and his stated intention to meet Tarique Rahman all point to continued high-level engagement between the two countries.

The latest communication also follows earlier correspondence in February, when Trump congratulated Tarique Rahman on becoming Bangladesh’s prime minister and expressed hope that the two countries would continue advancing their bilateral relationship, including through trade arrangements.

For Bangladesh, the Boeing decision carries both commercial and diplomatic significance, while for Washington, expanded aviation sales represent an important component of U.S. economic engagement with the country.

Trump’s latest letter combines appreciation for a major commercial decision with a personal diplomatic message to Bangladesh’s prime minister.

His assurance that Boeing will not disappoint Bangladesh, his warm message to the Bangladeshi people and his expectation of meeting Tarique Rahman soon have added a new dimension to the growing conversation surrounding U.S.-Bangladesh relations.

As both governments continue to pursue closer economic and strategic cooperation, a face-to-face meeting between Trump and Tarique Rahman could become an important milestone in the relationship between Washington and Dhaka.
