Not Words, the Current Government Believes in Action: State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Barrister Mir Helal

Hathazari, Chattogram | June 24, 2026

The Honorable State Minister for the Ministry of Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin MP, stated that the Honorable Prime Minister of the current democratic government, Mr. Tarique Rahman, believes in visible action rather than mere words. Our Prime Minister does not just make verbal promises; he meticulously implements them to ensure the welfare of the country's citizens. State Minister Mir Helal added that no genuine development took place during the regime of the previous fascist government; instead, boundless corruption and looting prevailed across the country under the guise of various development projects.

The State Minister made these remarks yesterday while addressing a multi-sectoral welfare event as the chief guest, organized at the Hathazari Upazila Parishad premises in Chattogram.

The Hathazari Upazila Administration organized the event to distribute and plant saplings across various educational institutions as part of the government-announced nationwide campaign to plant 250 million trees over the next five years. The event also featured the distribution of sewing machines among registered fishermen of the Halda River (a natural fish breeding center), Aman paddy incentives from the Department of Agriculture, and wheelchairs for individuals with special needs.

The special meeting, held in the afternoon, was chaired by the Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin. The event was conducted by the Upazila Project Implementation Officer, Niaz Morshed.

In his chief guest's address, State Minister Mir Helal described Chattogram’s traditional Halda River as the country's finest and most unique location for natural fish breeding. He firmly stated, "We are committed to protecting the Halda River at any cost. We are distributing sewing machines and livestock to provide alternative employment and improve the livelihoods of the fishermen who depend on the Halda and refrain from fishing to protect broodfish and fry."

Reiterating the government's goodwill toward the welfare of people with special needs and disabilities, the State Minister said, "Most families in our society often struggle to meet the necessary needs of their family members with special needs. However, our humanitarian Prime Minister, Mr. Tarique Rahman, is working tirelessly to alleviate the hardships of these individuals." Furthermore, expressing his commitment to building a green and sustainable Bangladesh, the State Minister remarked that there is no alternative to planting trees to build a habitable nation. "Our main goal is to restore ecological balance to the country, and embodying this noble resolve of the Prime Minister, we have initiated this tree plantation program in Hathazari today."

At the beginning of the event, the chief guest officially inaugurated the greening campaign by planting a tree sapling on the Upazila Parishad premises.

Among others present at the event were SP Saifur Rahman, Company Commander of the Hathazari Camp of RAB-7; Kazi Tariq Aziz, Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle); Shahed Arman, Assistant Commissioner (Land); Md. Mesbah Uddin, Upazila Agriculture Officer; Md. Shawkat Ali, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer; and Mujahidul Islam, Upazila Social Services Officer. Additionally, officials from various government departments and local leaders of the Upazila and Municipal BNP, along with its affiliate and associate organizations, were also present.

Earlier that morning, after arriving in Chattogram from Dhaka, State Minister Barrister Mir Helal attended the Chittagong College Auditorium. There, he participated as a special guest in a special "Inspirational View-Exchange Meeting" organized for HSC and equivalent examinees by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram. The Honorable Education Minister, A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan, delivered a guidance speech as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech as the special guest, the State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin MP, stated that the current government is giving the highest priority to technical education alongside conventional and knowledge-based education. Bangladesh's education system comprises around 10 streams or management systems, including primary, secondary, higher secondary, madrasah, and technical education. Under the kind direction of the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman and by following the government's specific education policy, the Honorable Education Minister is managing these educational systems with great efficiency. The current government has integrated sports and cultural practices into the core curriculum to foster the mental and physical development of students.

Addressing the teachers, State Minister Barrister Mir Helal MP said that teachers are the primary architects for implementing this modern education policy at the field level. In particular, primary school teachers must ensure their regular and timely attendance to deliver lessons so that no child drops out. He further stated, "To build our future generation into mentally resilient and enlightened human beings, teachers must be prepared to act with honesty, dedication, and responsibility." State Minister Barrister Mir Helal added, "The teaching community represents highly respected and revered figures in our society. Your role is paramount in building a self-reliant and progressive nation." Concluding his speech, State Minister Barrister Mir Helal extended an earnest call to everyone to work together to fulfill the dream of building "Bangladesh First" under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman.
