State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Yasser Khan Chowdhury, and Prime Minister’s Advisor, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, have stated that in this era of technological advancement, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) has significantly expanded the horizons of the Bangladeshi media landscape. However, they emphasized that maintaining transparency, accountability, and professionalism is essential for the disciplined growth of this medium.
These remarks were made during an exchange meeting with members of the Association of IPTV Owners Bangladesh (AIOB) held on Sunday (April 26) afternoon at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID).
During the meeting, State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury said, “The current government firmly believes in a free press and the unrestricted flow of information. IPTV can serve as an excellent platform to highlight the issues and potential of marginalized communities. However, this opportunity must not be used to spread misinformation or confusion. Every institution must operate while respecting national policies.”
Prime Minister’s Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman noted, “In this era of building a Digital Bangladesh, IPTVs must keep pace with modern technology while delivering objective news. I urge association members to work in close coordination with the government to ensure the sustainable and orderly development of this industry.”
Leading representatives from the Association of IPTV Owners Bangladesh highlighted various existing challenges and opportunities within the sector. They specifically emphasized the need for simplifying the registration process under government guidelines and formulating specific policies for smooth operations. They also sought active government cooperation for the advancement of this emerging industry.
At the beginning of the program, the association leaders greeted the State Minister and the Prime Minister’s Advisor with floral bouquets. Senior officials from the Press Information Department, along with owners and representatives of various IPTV channels, were present at the meeting.
