Google is preparing to host its annual Made by Google hardware launch event, where the Pixel 11 lineup is expected to take center stage alongside a new smartwatch and updated earbuds. The Verge reported that the event is scheduled unusually late in the day, kicking off at 6PM ET on Wednesday, with comedian Trevor Noah serving as a celebrity host.
However, the formal presentation may not be when the public actually learns the full details. The Google Store homepage reportedly features a Pixel 11 preorder countdown that expires at 10AM ET on Wednesday, which is several hours before the evening event begins. This scheduling quirk suggests that official device specifications and pricing could be revealed well before the livestreamed showcase even starts.
The Pixel 11 Smartphone Lineup
Google is expected to announce four new smartphones: the Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. According to leaked marketing renders, the new devices will look largely similar to the previous generation, though they will feature camera bars that are black all the way across and new color options.
One of the most notable visual additions is a rainbow glowy light on the camera bar, which Google has already partially shown off for the Pixel 11 Pro. Code spotted in Google's contacts app by 9to5Google indicates this feature is called "HiLight." The software code suggests that users can customize HiLight with different colors to indicate when specific contacts are calling. Based on a translated leaked image of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the light will also illuminate during interactions with Google's Gemini AI.
Inside the devices, the Pixel 11 series is rumored to be powered by a new Tensor G6 chip. The Verge noted that this chip is expected to utilize TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process, which would bring performance and power efficiency gains. If true, the Pixel 11 series would be the first smartphones on the market to feature a 2nm chip, narrowly beating Apple's next Pro iPhone lineup, which is also expected to adopt the 2nm process later in the year.
Storage and memory configurations may also shift. Google is rumored to raise the starting storage of the base Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro to 256GB, up from the 128GB floor of the previous generation. However, early Pixel 11 Pro listings indicate the device will have 12GB of RAM, which is down from the 16GB found in the Pixel 10 Pro. A Google VP recently told 9to5Google that the Pixel family will see pricing "adjustments" due to an ongoing memory crisis, meaning consumers should expect higher starting prices across the board.
Pixel Watch 5 and New Earbud Colors
Google is also expected to unveil the Pixel Watch 5. The device's existence was accidentally confirmed earlier this year when Borderlands creator Randy Pitchford posted images of a watch a friend found while scuba diving. Google has since briefly teased the watch for an August 12th launch.
Leaked renders indicate the watch will come in colors including black, polished silver, yellow gold, and a brass-y shade, while maintaining a design similar to the Pixel Watch 4. Specs obtained by MyMobiles suggest the watch will come in 41mm and 45mm screen sizes with battery life rated at 30 and 40 hours, respectively. The Pixel Watch 5 is also expected to receive 64GB of storage, which is double the capacity of its predecessor.
On the software side, marketing materials obtained by MyMobiles indicate that Gemini Intelligence will be a major feature. The AI is described as a "personal, proactive assistant" that surfaces helpful information. A feature called "Proactive Suggestions" will recommend context-aware replies to messages. The materials also promise the watch will offer Google's most accurate sleep tracking yet. Prices are expected to rise, with the 41mm Wi-Fi model potentially starting at $399 and the 45mm Wi-Fi model at $429.
For audio accessories, Google appears to be taking a minimal approach. Instead of a full refresh, the company is expected to simply launch the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in a new olive green color, based on a leaked marketing image shared by Evan Blass.

This year's hardware event highlights Google's continued push to integrate artificial intelligence directly into its physical devices. The inclusion of Gemini Intelligence on the Pixel Watch 5 and the dedicated HiLight feature for Gemini interactions on the Pixel 11 phones signal a deeper merging of software services and hardware design.
