BEIRUT, May 11, 2026 – The Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut has officially confirmed the tragic deaths of two Bangladeshi expatriate workers following an Israeli airstrike in Southern Lebanon earlier today.
According to the official statement, the attack occurred at approximately 12:00 PM on May 11, 2026. The victims were at their residence in the Zebdine area of Nabatieh, Southern Lebanon, when the building was hit during an Israeli aerial bombardment.
The deceased have been identified as Shafikul Islam, Son of Afsar Ali and Ajeya Khatun; hailing from Valuka Chandpur, Satkhira Sadar, Satkhira. And other victim is Md. Nahidul Islam: Son of Md. Abdul Kader and Nurunnahar Khatun; hailing from Kadakati, Ashashuni, Satkhira.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut expressed profound grief over the loss of these two "remittance warriors". In the press release, the embassy extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
Currently, the bodies of the victims are being held at the Nabih Berri Government University Hospital in Nabatieh. The statement was signed and issued by Mohammad Anwar Hossain, First Secretary (Labour) and Head of Mission.
