By Al Mamun, New Jersey: A “Community Cricket Day” will be held in New Jersey on September 20 with the aim of promoting cricket and strengthening social harmony among different communities in the United States. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at Knob Hill Pavilion in Colonial Park.
Organized by the American Cricket Club (ACC), the event will bring together cricket enthusiasts, families and friends for a day of sports and community activities. According to the organizers, the event is intended to be more than just a cricket tournament; it is also an opportunity to bring people from different communities together.
Three Teams, Three Colors
Three teams representing the three colors of the U.S. national flag will compete in this year’s tournament. The teams are the New Jersey Tigers, wearing white jerseys; the New Jersey Gladiators, wearing red; and the East Coast Titans, wearing blue. The three teams will compete for the championship title.
As the organizers put it, “Three teams, three colors, but one spirit.”
Entertainment and Family Activities
This year’s Community Cricket Day is being organized as part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. In addition to cricket, the event will feature cultural performances, face painting, a raffle draw, games for children and adults, and food stalls.
Admission for adults will be $15, while children under the age of 17 will be admitted free of charge.
The organizers expect the event to provide an enjoyable day for cricket fans while helping strengthen connections among Bangladeshi expatriates and members of other communities.
