WASHINGTON/ANKARA, July 8 — U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire with Iran is “over” following renewed military exchanges, warning that the United States is prepared to launch another wave of strikes against Iranian targets later tonight if necessary.

Speaking during the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump accused Iran of violating the ceasefire and dismissed further negotiations as ineffective. He said the previous agreement had effectively collapsed and warned that the U.S. military would “hit them hard tonight” if Iran continued its hostile actions.

The latest escalation comes after reported attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and subsequent U.S. retaliatory strikes on Iranian military targets. Iran has responded with attacks on U.S. military installations in the Gulf, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.

The renewed hostilities have rattled global markets, with oil prices climbing sharply amid concerns that further fighting could disrupt energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.

The situation remains fluid, and U.S. officials have not yet confirmed the timing or scope of any additional military operations. Iran has not issued an official response to Trump’s latest threat at the time of publication.
