WASHINGTON/ANKARA, July 8Donald Trump said the ceasefire with Iran is "over" after fresh military exchanges, warning that the United States could launch another wave of strikes against Iranian targets as early as tonight.

Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, the U.S. president accused Iran of breaching the truce and dismissed the prospect of further negotiations. The previous agreement had effectively collapsed, he said, and the U.S. military would "hit them hard tonight" if Iran persisted in its hostile actions.

The escalation follows reported attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. retaliatory strikes on Iranian military targets. Iran has struck back with attacks on American military installations in the Gulf, deepening fears of a wider regional conflict.

Global markets have reacted sharply. Oil prices climbed on concerns that intensified fighting could disrupt energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world's most critical oil transit routes.

The situation remains fluid. U.S. officials have not confirmed the timing or scope of any additional military operations, and Iran had not issued an official response to Trump's latest threat at the time of publication.
